There are many ways to keep warm on Bonfire Night but walking on red hot coals might be seen as a bit extreme!

Nevertheless that’s just what Lee Peck did in Winchester in front of more than 10,000 people as part of the Guy Fawkes celebrations.

Lee was part of a team of 10 people who walked on fire for Brendoncare, the charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people.

Temperatures peaked at 506 degrees centigrade but our intrepid communications guru said: “ It was the most incredible experience. The truth is it was quite painless. We were given full instructions beforehand so knew that the key was to take a deep breath, focus and move smoothly over the coals.” In the event Lee liked it so much he had three goes and survived without so much as a blister!
