Break a Guinness World Record
LPG client, the PSP Southampton Boat Show is trying to set its own official record at this years Show 11-20 September in Mayflower Park. Celebrities, organisers, exhibitors and visitors have all been joining together each day so far to set a new semaphore record for the largest number of people to send a message.
The target indicated by Guinness World Records is 250 people joining together to send a mass semaphore. Crowds gathered on Saturday at the record Breaker Stage to join Mike Golding in setting a record for the most number of people to send a semaphore message and even the Right Worshipful Mayor of Southampton joined in. An impressive 222 people sent the word ‘RECORD’ at the first session, with 150 attending at 4pm. Sunday was even better with Geoff Holt leading 239 people all trying to achieve the target – just 11 short!
We’ll be trying to break a record every day of the Show so join in as much as possible, send friends and family, and have fun; its taking place at 11.45am, 1.45pm and 4pm each day. Our next world record attempt will take place next Saturday 19th September so join Dee Caffari and Ben Ainslie at 1.45pm and 4pm respectively to see if we can reach 250
