| | Only in America...billionaire meets Lee, shopping!
It’s not often you get to meet a billionaire entrepreneur but that’s what happened to Lee Peck when he was in Las Vegas on client business. Lee was staying at the 2885 room Treasure Island resort on The Strip when he ran into Phil G Ruffin, who had taken ownership of the hotel that very morning. Mr Ruffin, who features in the influential Forbes magazine list of the richest people in America, is estimated to be worth $2.1 billion. Having just bought Treasure Island for $775 million from the world famous MGM Mirage group, Mr Ruffin was touring the hotel with Fox Television News. Lee, who was attending a client conference, takes up the story: 'I was actually shopping at the time fresh from a meeting when there was some commotion and Mr Ruffin appeared with a camera crew in tow. He just came up to me and said "Hi. My name’s Phil and I’m the new owner.” He smiled and added: “I officially took over at 3am today! Welcome - how ya doing?" He was very relaxed and I simply said he should be very proud. The staff had been brilliant and the whole place was very professionally run. He thanked me, shook my hand for the TV cameras and was on his way'. As people say ‘Only in America!’ |
