Lee Peck recreates Sir Alan Sugar for The Apprentice Southampton Style
“You’re fired!” That’s a phrase which has been popularised by Sir Alan Sugar in the hit BBC TV series, The Apprentice. Well now a version of the show has come to Hampshire.
The regional radio station, Wave 105, has adopted The Apprentice theme for a team building day. And the radio station chose Lee Peck, the founder and joint chairman of Southampton based advertising agency, Leepeckgroup, to play the no - nonsense boss.
Playing the roles of Sir Alan’s aids, Margaret and Nick, were Wave’s marketing controller, Chandeep Nijhar and head of sales, Jon Brooks. Two groups of seven people from Wave’s sales team took part in the event at the head office of Leepeckgreenfield.
Jon Brooks said: “The Apprentice is all about making successful choices in business and despite the programme ultimately championing one individual it’s clear that partnerships and teamwork are hugely important. These are fundamental characteristics of Wave 105’s sales operation and the day was designed to recognise individual and collective strengths”
Lee Peck, who starred in Channel 4’s Boss Swap four years ago, said: “It was a great day – and great fun. Actually being chosen to play Sir Alan for a day was an incredible buzz. I think saying “Your fired!” has become a real catchphrase and as you can imagine everyone in the office was coming up to me and saying just that!!”
There were two challenges in the day long event – in the morning they were asked to invent a new brand of chewing gum and in the afternoon each team was given £50 to buy a list of 10 random items. The winner was the team who spent the least.
