Southampton erects largest England flag in UK!
The UK’s largest England flag has been erected on a building in Southampton – the former home club of the nation’s youngest prodigy Theo Walcott, before he moved to Arsenal.
The flag’s on the headquarters of the region’s number 1 advertising and PR agency, Leepeckgroup just off the M3 at the top of The Avenue, the main route into the city. Up to 50,000 cars drive by the site everyday!
Measuring a gigantic 17metres by 6 metres, the nylon flag cost more than £2000 to produce.
“We just wanted to get into the spirit of the World Cup and show our support for the boys, particularly Theo who was very popular in the city” said joint chairman Lee Peck. “Southampton has aspirations to be a world class city and England are playing at the greatest tournament on the planet. It’s been great fun and has really struck a chord with everyone with people hooting their horns in support as they drive by!”
The agency’s clients have also been invited to pitch up to a World Cup party on Thursday, June 15 – the day of the England v Trinidad and Tobago game – where they will receive a free footie gift.
