lee peck recalls fond memories of ITV for special 50th anniversary programme
Leepeckgroup chairman Lee Peck is set for a return to our TV screens in a special programme celebrating 50 years of ITV on the South Coast.
Lee has filmed some memories of his time with TVS for the show which will be broadcast on Meridian on Sunday September 18th, showcasing memorable moments from independent television in the south.
The documentary will feature key players from ITV in the south including former TVS programme controller Greg Dyke and former newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, and will be fronted by Fred Dinenage.
Lee, who had a career with TVS from 1981 to 1987, recalls his memories of interviewing Bob Hope in 1984 on the day after the infamous Brighton bomb.
He said: “Interviewing Bob Hope was definitely the highlight of my TV career because he was my idol and such a nice, genuine guy.
“I’ll never forget when I asked him about the secret of success in maintaining an entertainment career spanning 80 years. I expected him to say something like ‘getting lucky breaks’ or ‘meeting the right people’, but he just rolled his eyes heavenward and replied ‘talent!’”
Lee said he was thrilled to take part in the programme and to be a part of ITV in the south.
