looking into Southampton’s future
NEARLY 300 business leaders with an eye to the future attended the Business Southampton Annual Conference which was co-sponsored by Leepeckgroup.
Lee Peck acted as compère and keynote speaker Lord Digby Jones, UK Business Ambassador and former government minister, gave a rousing address. He was assured of a good reception when he told the room that business was the most important part of our society. Lord Jones said Southampton had a major role to play in the country but he warned that the city must address the skills shortage which was in danger of affecting future success.
Business Southampton CEO Sally Lynskey said she was delighted with the feedback from conference delegates.“The response has been really positive – this annual conference has been our best yet. The quality of the speakers was especially high and it's clear Southampton has a great deal to look forward to in the coming years, but it also has a number of issues to consider.”
Sue Thomas, MD of Leepeckgroup, which is a City Champion, said: “Strategically it’s vital the agency is part of the fabric of this leading city’s business community. Challenges yes, but we’re committed to playing a full part in Southampton’s growth and development.”
